Welcome to the website for Zami Communities!

Zami Communities takes its origins from many years ago, when Brian Williams and David Cattermole had the idea back in 2000 to set up an online community for the businesses in the HX1 central area of Halifax, West Yorkshire. The domain, www.hx1.com, was registered, but the idea never really took off the ground and fizzled out. 5 years later, and David started thinking again about online communities and how to improve on the existing networks. David started up www.matrixwatch.net, as well as drawing up plans for other niche markets. The MatrixWatch website was eventually taken over by an American consortium, and in 2009 David started drawing up future plans.

In 2010 David created e405 Communities, our fore-runner. e405 bought out several existing online communities, such as SeeLowestoft, LowestoftLive and LowestoftLife. e405 also entered into negotiations with the new owners of the MatrixWatch online community regarding a buy-back.

The beginning of 2013 saw the real brainstorming happening. Discussions with Annette from Asha's World Enterprise resulted in the first of several 'off-line' community projects, which to date have included a cafe, a drop-in centre and a former hotel building. Business plans were drawn up, and months of research resulted in..... Zami Communities!

Zami Communities operates a variety of different online social communities, with future plans for others; these include a general Christian community, a Christian business network, a victim support community network and a local community radio station. We also have plans to operate a combined community/business centre; this will lease out individual offices, offer virtual office services, and provide somewhere for people to meet & relax in our coffee lounge. We will also have leaflets & other local literature to help newcomers and visitors/tourists.

We are funded through a combination of grants and donations.
